The SLA Family Newsletter

All the news we can fit

As a new member of the SLA community, you will soon begin receiving the SLA Family Newsletter. This is SLA’s way of streamlining communications around important weekly news, schedules, events, and reminders. Each week brings important updates so be sure to mark my email address, mayer@school.la, as a safe sender, lest the good news land in your spam folder.

In the coming weeks, we will start running important announcements that will be relevant to new families, including details for our Summer 2024 Reading and Projects assignments and invitations and reminders about community events such as CoacheSLA. Make sure to read the newsletter every week, and don’t miss out on the excitement!

Enrollment in Tuition Management

SLA partners with Blackbaud’s Tuition Management to streamline tuition payments and keep costs low for families paying in installments.

  • By the end of May 2024, SLA will configure your 2024–2025 tuition accounts online according to the payment plan you selected in your enrollment agreement.

  • Once accounts are configured and deposits are applied, families will receive a communication from Tuition Management. This email will contain important login information and each family’s unique account ID number. Please be sure to login and enter your payment method as soon as possible. A reminder that by paying monthly via ACH (with a checking account and routing number), families can avoid the additional fee of 2.85% that is charged for payment via a debit or credit card.

  • Deposits already paid to SLA will be applied to the total balances due and families will receive receipts with their updated tuition balances.

  • After accounts are set up, families who wish to change payment plans, change payment withdrawal dates, or contact customer service may call Tuition Management at 888-868-8828. A link to the online Tuition Management portal can be found on SLA’s webpage under My SLA > Tuition Management

  • If a family forgets or needs help retrieving their Tuition Family ID number or has any other questions or doubts, please reach out me at richter@school.la

Blackbaud: The School Portal

SLA uses Blackbaud for our school portal for all family and student information. You should have already received an invitation to login to Blackbaud via your email. Blackbaud uses a single-sign on system, so you will use your email address to login rather than a username and password. We encourage you to log in, check it out, and familiarize yourself today!

SLA Dress Code

From the Student Handbook: SLA students are asked to use their best judgment and dress in a manner that supports their learning, does not impede others’ learning, and allows them to safely and comfortably navigate campus. All dress code guidelines are gender-neutral. Students are required to wear closed-toed shoes that cover up their heels and allow for running in the event of an emergency and for impromptu Red & White competitions!

Formal Dress Code

Students are asked to adhere to the Formal Dress Code for our three Major Feasts and other special events decided by the Senior Administrative Team. Students should wear the following formal dress items: loafers or dress shoes; dress slacks, pants, or skirt; a navy or gray blazer. Families that have any questions or need support regarding the dress code should contact the Family Inclusion Coordinator or Director of Student Affairs.

Does SLA offer financial assistance for the dress code?

If your contribution to SLA tuition is $5,000 or less, then you qualify for additional financial assistance to purchase clothes within the dress code. A representative from SLA will reach out to you, and offer a time for you to come to campus during the first two weeks of school to retrieve your Dress Code assistance.

SLA Closet and Blazer Bank

We have a “pop-up” store that we hold periodically where you can donate and shop gently used items. The pop-up store will make appearances during orientation and events at the beginning of the year.

If you have questions, please contact Ms. McCarron at mccarron@school.la or by calling the school at 323-462-3752.
