Go Coyotes!

The School of Los Angeles athletics department participates in 5 FIYA/CIF sports leagues across the city. In 2024-25, SLA offered the following sports programs:

  • Middle School: Girls Volleyball, Boys and Girls Basketball

  • Upper School: Girls Volleyball, Boy and Girls Basketball, Cross Country, Track and Field, and Tennis

Girls Volleyball

Over the past several seasons, SLA’s Girls Volleyball team has steadily climbed from Division 5 to Division 3. The team has maintained a strong competitive presence—a perennial playoff contender boasting not one but two League Championships! SLA fields an Upper School and Middle School team.

  • 2022-2023: Undefeated Regular Season | League Champions

  • 2024-2025: League Champions (11-1 Regular Season)

Basketball

SLA fields a Girls and Boys Basketball Team for the both the Upper and Middle School. The Girls Basketball Team, 22-23 League Champions, have made the playoffs four consecutive seasons!

  • 2022-2023: Girls Team, League Champions

  • 2023-2024: Boys Team, First Playoff Berth!

Tennis

The Tennis Team began as a humble after-school club, volleying tennis balls over a makeshift net in the East Lot. But a passionate group of students worked with the School to transform that club into a league team in only a year. Even more impressive, they managed a League Championship in their first season!

Cross Country

SLA fields a Girls and Boys Basketball Team for the both the Upper and Middle School. The Girls Basketball Team, 22-23 League Champions, have made the playoffs four consecutive seasons!

Track and Field

Last year SLA celebrated the first individual runner (Denise P., Class of ‘24) to win a Central League championship and compete in the LA CITY Championship preliminaries.
