An Update from Dr. Rodgers
Dr. Kenneth Rodgers, Jr.
President and Head of School
Dear SLA families, faculty, and staff,
We apologize for sending multiple communications, but current emergency circumstances dictate that we cancel school tomorrow, Thursday, January 9.
As most of you will already know, at roughly 5:30 p.m. earlier this afternoon the Sunset Fire erupted in the vicinity of Runyon Canyon, roughly two miles from SLA campus and in an area where many of our families reside. The fire has spread rapidly and a mandatory evacuation is currently in place from Mulholland Drive to Hollywood Boulevard, which directly affects a significant portion of our community. An evacuation warning extends to Sunset Boulevard just north of SLA campus, and air quality is currently dangerous.
Once again, we send our thoughts and prayers to everyone affected. Please do not hesitate to reach out to SLA administration, and we will be in communication with our families to coordinate support.
Sending my best during this very difficult time.
Dr. Kenneth Rodgers, Jr.
President and Head of School
