Advent Festival of Lessons and Carols

The Festival of Lessons and Carols is the second of our three school feasts. Advent is the season that precedes Christmas. It is a season for reflection, waiting, and stillness; a time when we mark the journey from captivity to freedom, despair to hope. At this traditional service, we light candles, sing, and hear readings to help us make room in our lives for joy to show up. 

All students are required to attend the three school feasts and we encourage families to attend as well. Formal dress is required. The service begins promptly at 6:00 p.m. Please allow time to park and find your seat. Spanish translation will be available and you can indicate your need for translation on the RSVP form. DONATE A $25 GIFT CARD for youth in foster care
COLLECTED AT LESSONS & CAROLS

This year, the Service Council will be collecting $25 gift cards for older youth who are in foster care or who have aged out of foster care without a permanent family. Cards may be for any store that is easily accessible throughout Los Angeles or online (e.g. Amazon, Target, Starbucks). The cards will be collected at the check-in table at Lessons and Carols and delivered to Extraordinary Families, whose mission is to help children have the childhood and futures they rightfully deserve. We are directing our gifts specifically to youth ages 16–26 who frequently face more instability, more group homes, and less support than younger children.

Festival de Adviento de Lecciones y Villancicos

El Festival de Lecciones y Villancicos es la segunda de nuestras tres fiestas escolares. El Adviento es la estación que precede a la Navidad. Es un tiempo de reflexión, espera y quietud; un tiempo en el que marcamos el camino del cautiverio a la libertad, de la desesperación a la esperanza. En este servicio tradicional, encendemos velas, cantamos y escuchamos lecturas para ayudarnos a hacer espacio en nuestras vidas para que aparezca la alegría. 

Se requiere que todos los estudiantes asistan a las tres fiestas escolares y alentamos a las familias a asistir también. Se requiere vestimenta formal. El servicio comienza puntualmente a las 6:00 pm. Por favor considere dejar tiempo para estacionarse y encontrar su asiento. La traducción al español estará disponible y puede indicar si necesita traducción en el formulario RSVP. Haga clic en el botón a continuación y envíe sólo un RSVP por familia.

DONAR UNA TARJETA DE REGALO DE $25 PARA JÓVENES EN CUIDADO DE CRIANZA
LAS TARJETAS SERÁN RECOGIDAS EN EL EVENTO DE LECCIONES Y VILLANCICOS

Este año, el Consejo de Servicio recolectarán tarjetas de regalo de $25 para jóvenes que están en cuidado de crianza o que han superado la edad de cuidado de crianza sin una familia. Las tarjetas pueden ser para cualquier tienda a la que se pueda acceder fácilmente en Los Ángeles o en línea (por ejemplo, Amazon, Target, Starbucks). Las tarjetas se recogerán en la mesa de registro en la noche de lecciones y villancicos y se entregarán a Extraordinary Families, cuya misión es ayudar a los niños a tener la infancia y el futuro que merecen. Estamos dirigiendo nuestras donaciones específicamente a jóvenes de 16 a 26 años que con frecuencia enfrentan más inestabilidad, más hogares grupales y menos apoyo que los niños más pequeños.
