A Heartfelt Farewell to Nive Godavarthi
Dr. Nicoli Stamps
Assistant Head of School
Dear SLA families,
We are very sad to announce that Mrs. Godavarthi is stepping down from her position at SLA for personal reasons. Mrs. G has been a valuable member of SLA’s faculty, helping to develop the School’s STEM curricula, especially in math and computer science. She has always cultivated a joy for learning inside her classroom, and the passion she inspired in her students was palpable. As Student Life Coordinator, she worked tirelessly to help program our first ever Homecoming, build out partnerships with other local independent schools’ student life programs, and develop the leadership skills of our Community Life Council members.
Mrs. G will be missed, and we send our very best wishes to her and her family during this time. We have already secured coverage for her classes and administrative duties. Steven Cohen, who many of you already know, will be stepping into a full-time interim position. Mr. Cohen has served for multiple years as an on-call substitute at SLA, and has several prior years of experience teaching mathematics at the high school level. We will be in touch with the classes directly affected with further details.
Sincerely,
Dr. Nicoli Stamps
Nive Godavarthi
Chair, STEM Department
Dear SLA,
It is with a heavy heart and deep gratitude that I say goodbye to my beloved SLA community. As some of you may know, the pandemic has not been easy on my family; I have experienced much loss, and my grief has shaped many decisions since, leading me now to prioritize my family and my wellness. My time here has been filled with countless moments of joy, belonging, learning, and growth. The love and trust I have experienced from my students, parents, my peers, and the administration is humbling, and I will forever carry that with me.
I wish SLA great success!
Warmly,
Mrs. G
